OUR LABORATORY / KAMPALA
NovaCell's laboratory is based at JCRC. Its focus is cell-product inventory, preparation and a documented handover to the clinical team.

THE JCRC SETTING
NovaCell operates as a separate company, with its clinic and laboratory based at JCRC under a premises partnership and rental arrangement.
Five laboratory technicians were trained and certified by Cellcolabs at that laboratory, according to NovaCell management. Supplier training supports staff competency; it does not establish facility accreditation or transfer the supplier's certification to NovaCell.
Cellcolabs-trained and certified, management-confirmed.
The local clinical team retains responsibility for patient care.
Support for the team, alongside local clinical oversight.
OUR RECEIVING LABORATORY
Six connected stages explain the laboratory's role. Specialist cell manufacturing is a separate activity from the receiving laboratory's inventory and preparation work.
Location, team and supplier training are management-confirmed. The overview is patient information; exact supplier SOPs, product-specific methods, acceptance criteria and applicable permissions require review. No facility accreditation is claimed.
Connect the product with its records.
Product receipt brings together the product identifiers, supplier documentation and shipment records. Identity and transport information provide the starting point for traceability.

Know what is held, and how it is recorded.
NovaCell holds cell-product inventory for its clinic. Product-specific storage requirements, monitoring, inventory status and documented movements support oversight of that stock. This is not a patient storage service.

Bring people, product and documentation together.
Preparation readiness includes the relevant supplier instructions, product documentation, trained personnel and workspace requirements. The team needs a clear record of responsibilities before preparation begins.
Thawing and reconstitution have a specific context.
For cryopreserved cell products, preparation means controlled thawing and preparation of a cell suspension under the applicable supplier instructions and facility procedures. The exact product instructions determine the approach; this page is not an operating protocol.

Measurements need context and human review.
Cell counting and quality review support assessment of the prepared product against the applicable documentation and defined criteria. The counting method, equipment and acceptance criteria are specific to the product and authorised procedures. No particular counter model or validated specification is claimed here.

Keep the product record connected to care.
Documented handover connects product identity and preparation records with the agreed clinical care plan. Local clinical responsibility remains with the three-clinician team. Two clinical advisers based abroad provide support; they do not replace local clinical oversight.

QUALITY AND OVERSIGHT
Trained personnel, documented procedures, monitoring, product traceability and competency review are the foundations of responsible laboratory work. A quality record is useful only when it connects to the exact product, process and responsible people.
Quality checks do not establish effectiveness for every condition. Any clinical use still requires individual assessment, appropriate evidence and the applicable permissions.
Some manufacturers use this term for preparing frozen cells after thawing. For cryopreserved MSCs, it refers to thawing and preparation of a cell suspension, rather than simply dissolving a powder. The exact supplier instructions take precedence.
